Goodbye

The trees know,
Their limbs wave in the wind
The grass knows too.
It swirls playfully,
Daring you to stay.

The birds are in on the secret.
They caw and chirp to us,
Sending messages.
Even the baseball fences,
The only ones who stand tall and strong,
Are in the loop.

But we are oblivious.
Joni Mitchell and The Beatles
Had it right.
We don't know what we have 'till
It's gone.
I say hello, but you say
Goodbye.
